FAQ

- What is the structure of the class?

Classes are approximately 1 hour and follow baby's natural play-rest-play routine. Every class starts with our 'Say Hello to the Sun' song which uses simple everyday sign language and gestures. This is followed by an exciting range of carefully planned and researched sensory activities with songs, signing, balloons, bubbles, bells, tickly feathers and massage to name just a few! We then give babies a short rest before returning to the activities. All you need is lots of smiles, clapping and engagement. The class always ends with our 'Wave Goodbye' song which is a lovely time to cuddle up with your baby as they will probably be very sleepy by then.

Please do not arrive more than 10 minutes before the start of your class and please take your shoes off before entering the Sensory Area. Please bring a fleece of blanket for your baby to lie on and please make sure you have a pair of socks for yourself. Hand sanitiser will be available for you to use on arrival, this is for adult use only.

-                How will you keep the equipment clean?

You will be given your own bowl of equipment to use for the duration of the class. This will include most things you will need for all the activities. The equipment will have been sanitised before each session and only you will use it during the session.

Mats will also be santised before and after each class.

-                Will we have to wear a face covering?

As per government guidance, face coverings are not currently required.

As always I will be keeping a close eye on the guidelines and if and if anything changes I will let you know.

-                Can my baby's sibling(s) or extra adults attend with us?

Older siblings cannot be accommodated under any circumstance as I am not covered for this on my insurance.

As space in my venues are limited, please do notify me in advance if you'd like to attend with your baby AND an additional adult.

-                What happens if we go into a local or national lockdown?

If I am unable to run the venue-based classes for any circumstances out of our control I will run your affected sessions online via zoom. Unfortunately, I am unable to offer a refund as the online session will be in place of the venue-based class.

-                What if I have any symptoms of  Covid 19 or someone I live with is showing symptoms?

Please  DO NOT come to classes if you or someone you live with is showing symptoms or has tested positive for Covid 19. Please follow all government guidance for self-isolating.

-                What happens if I cannot attend my class?

If you cannot make your booked venue-based class for any reason you are welcome to invite a friend to take your place as long as I know names and contact numbers in advance. IF there is space, you may be able to attend a class on another day of the same week.

What happens if my baby cries or sleeps in the class?

Here's some information from Dr Lin Day who developed the Baby Sensory program      :
"Scientific research increasingly supports the view that rich sensory experiences from birth can build important neural connections that develop future intelligence. One of the most crucial periods for the development of complex neural connections for intelligence is in the first three months of life. This is the time when the brain shows most plasticity" ... "Even though new-borns sleep so much, they not only take in and process information from the outside world, but respond appropriately to it at the right time."
You will also take away ideas of things to create / try at home, and the opportunity to meet other parents with babies the same age.  It usually takes babies 2-3 weeks to settle into Baby  Sensory's routine so try to relax and enjoy it. All babies cry and this is a baby class after all so if you need to stand up and settle your baby, rest assured that no one will mind!

Re-Enrolment

A few weeks before the end of term, you'll be told in class and sent an email when priority bookings open for the next term. You'll have chance to  re-enrol before the waiting list is opened.

Baby Sensory was founded by Dr Lin Day to help with all aspects of your little ones' development. Our classes are suitable for babies right from birth and all the way up to after their first birthdays. Our carefully researched activities are designed to stimulate the senses including touch, hearing, smell and sight and we look at many areas of baby development including exercise, music and musical instruments, lights shows, puppet shows, massage, bonding, baby signing and even baby mathematics! Each week has a different theme and our activities vary but the structure of the class is always the same, running for 1 hour with a break in the middle as we like to follow your babies natural play, rest, play cycle.

Vicky's Baby Sensory classes currently run in Coulson, Caterham and Reigate. The Award Winning Baby Development classes are easily accessible for parents living in the local communities including Coulsdon, Hooley, Warlingham, Caterham, Oxted, Reigate, Redhill, Godstone, Merstham, Kingswood and Tadworth.

If you are looking for an exciting activity which will be fun for you and will help with your baby’s sensory development call your Class Leader, Vicky, who will arrange for you and your baby to visit one of her classes.
