Baby Sensory® is the original learning & development programme specifically designed for babies from birth to thirteen months. Your baby will join a science backed programme created by experts with all activities carefully planned and created with your baby's development in mind. Foundations will be made for your child's later learning through fun, safe, captivating and exciting ideas for play.

Our classes in Plymouth take you through a session of rich and beneficial sensory activities following baby's natural cycle of play-rest-play to ensure they get the absolute best out of our classes.

You and your baby can join our classes at ANYTIME, providing there is space, so you don't have to wait for the start of a new term.

I am so happy to be able to offer you the opportunity to make new friends and experience the Baby Sensory® magic in our fantastic venues.

CLASS STRUCTURE:

- All of our classes follow your babies natural play-rest-play routine. Every class starts with our 'Say Hello to the Sun' song which uses simple everyday baby signs and gestures. Your baby will quickly recognise this activity as the start of their routine and the song can be a fantastic tool for calming them at home too.

- This is followed by an exciting range of carefully planned and researched sensory activities with songs, signing, balloons, parachutes, bubbles, bells, feathers and massage to name just a few. Each week is different! You can attend for a whole year and never do the same class twice.

- We then have a play break which is an opportunity for your baby to rest and explore a range of toys and equipment. It's a great time for you to relax and socialise with other parents too. The play break helps to ensure that your baby doesn't get too overstimulated and unhappy.

- We then commence our second phase of sensory activities and end every class with our 'Wave Goodbye' song.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Is my baby too young to attend?

It is never too early to bring your baby along to our magical classes. Babies learn more in their first three months of life with their brains doubling in volume by the end of their first year. How amazing is that?!

Is my baby too old to attend?

As long as your baby is under 13 months at the time of booking then you are welcome to join!

My baby is crawling/walking, can we still attend?

Absolutely! Mobile babies get so much from the sessions.

What happens if I miss a class?

If you miss a booked class, due to illness or holidays for example, then I'm afraid the class cannot be reimbursed or credited. However, if you do miss a class, you may attend a different venue that week for a catch up class (if there is space). If you cannot attend a catch up class, your space in class may be gifted to a friend or another parent.

Can my baby's sibling(s) attend with us?

Unless it is an emergency, and pre-agreed with us, older siblings cannot be accommodated. Classes are designed specifically for babies aged from birth -13 months and the resources and equipment used in class are not designed for older children. On occasion school age siblings (6+) can attend but must remain seated for the duration of the class - not in our Exploratory Play Area or Sensory area. The safety of our babies is paramount which I'm sure you'll appreciate.

What happens if my baby cries in the class?

It can take babies 2-3 weeks to settle into the Baby Sensory® routine so try to relax and enjoy it. ALL babies cry and this is a baby class after all! I promise nobody will mind if your baby cries. You are free to attend to your baby's needs at any point in the class. If they need to be fed, changed or they just want a quiet cuddle, we want you to feel 100% comfortable at all times to follow your babies lead.

What about if my baby sleeps through the class?

Here's some information from Dr Lin Day who developed the Baby Sensory® program:

"Scientific research increasingly supports the view that rich sensory experiences from birth can build important neural connections that develop future intelligence. One of the most crucial periods for the development of complex neural connections for intelligence is in the first three months of life. This is the time when the brain shows most plasticity" ... "Even though new-borns sleep so much, they not only take in and process information from the outside world, but respond appropriately to it at the right time."

So even if your baby sleeps during the class, they will be taking in so much of what is going on around them.
