FAQ

Q What do we do in a Baby Sensory class?

A Well, that is a very hard question to answer as each week is different! You will have a new theme each week and different activities to keep classes fun and exciting!

But what is the same every week is that classes are 1 hour long and follow your baby's natural play-rest-play cycle.

You will start with me in the sensory area where we will sing our signature song 'Say Hello to the Sun' - which will be a firm favourite for years to come!

You will then have some focused 1-1 activities around the sensory area to enjoy with your baby. Then in the middle of the session you will have a play break, where you are welcome to go to the exploratory play area at the back of the room. Here you and your baby can play with a variety of toys, read exciting books and socialise with the other parents. Then you come back to the sensory area for the second half of the activities before we wave goodbye.

Q What makes Baby Sensory different?

A Baby Sensory was the first (and original) baby programme to offer a complete approach to learning and sensory development. It was developed by Dr Lin Day using over 35 years of research and expertise!

What makes Baby Sensory unique is that every activity has been carefully designed to stimulate your baby's senses and move development and learning forwards, creating a wonderful time of sensory exploration for you and your baby to share during that precious first year.

Q Is my baby too young? Will they just sleep through it all?

A Not at all! The earlier your baby starts the better!

Baby Sensory classes are suitable from birth up to 13 months old. So you are welcome to join any time you feel ready! Your baby's learning journey starts in the womb and the most amazing development happens to your baby's brain during the first 3 months of their life! So it is never too early to join!

Also, it doesn't matter if your baby falls asleep . . . we all need a nap now and again!

Fun fact - Your baby will actually take in around 80% of the surrounding stimuli when they are asleep - so they will still be benefitting even when they are snoozing!

Lots of our activities can be recreated at home - so you can take all that information home with you and be prepared with ideas for play at home when your baby is awake and ready!

Q What do I need to bring with me?

A You will need to bring some socks (for you - we like to keep our mats fresh and clean) and a blanket for baby to lay on. Everything else will be provided for you!

Q What happens if I cant make a session?

A There are a couple of options if you can't make your usual class.

If you are unable to make it and an alternative class is available, then a swap will be offered.

Sometimes this may not be possible is a class is fully booked but do ask!

Missed classes can not be rearranged to another term and should be rearranged for the week that is missed.

Q What should I do if my baby is poorly?

A As we like to keep classes as clean and safe as possible we ask that you keep your baby at home if they are feeling unwell or have any type of contagious illness (e.g chicken pox, hand foot and mouth)

Q Can my older child come with me too?

A Our classes are a wonderful time to have 1-1 time with your baby so unfortunately toddlers and pre schoolers are unable to attend our classes. This is also due to health and safety and insurance reasons. If your school aged child is on an inset day or if you are attending a special they may attend with you - but warn them that they will have to join in and shake a shaker or two!

Q What shall I do if my preferred class is fully booked?

A If a class is marked as 'wait list' then unfortunately it is fully booked. Please try to book onto another class to avoid disappointment. Once all spaces have been filled, a place may not become available until the next half term. Also, if a space does become available on your preferred class we can swap the booking over.

Alternatively, you can join the waitlist to be notified of any spaces!
