Baby Sensory classes have a range of classes to suit your babies' needs:-
Birth to 6 months for younger babies and tailored for the needs of our youngest participants, classes focus on foundational and emotional aspects of baby development.
6 to 13 months for older and more mobile babies, classes may slightly differ in activities and pace to meet their evolving developmental milestones.
Birth - 13 months - If you have a friend with a baby who is slightly older/younger, or you can't make one of the split-age classes we also offer a birth to 13 month old class.
Why attend our classes?
Baby Sensory classes in Wigan and St Helens offer a multi-award winning learning and developmental programme. Behind each session is a detailed lesson plan which is backed up with 40+ years of practical experience and research by Dr Lin Day with parents and babies. You and your baby will experience a huge variety of baby sensory experiences and discover ways to communicate with each other. You will gain the support and knowledge necessary to lead babies' learning and development forwards, in the most important year of their life. During this time your babies' brain will double in size- how phenomenal is that?
How do classes help my baby to develop?
Our activities are lovingly designed to stimulate your babies' brain, building trillions of new brain cell connections. Incorporating creative play, tummy time, movement, games, lights, visual aids, massage, songs, signs and rhymes benefits your baby immensely for different reasons. To name a few benefits, they aid eye development, motor skills, the sense of touch and smell, imagination, concentration, understanding, emotional development, listening skills, memory, speech and language.
Structure of class
Each session is 1 hour long and we follow babies' natural hourly cycle of play- rest- play, to ensure they are not over-stimulated. We begin with our unique "Say Hello to the Sun Song" where you can sing and sign to your baby, followed by some guided activities. Half way through we give babies' the opportunity to have a rest in our exploratory play area. This is the perfect time to have a chat with other parents and make new friends. We follow with more guided activities, ending with our soothing "Wave Goodbye" song. Your little one will establish a wonderful routine as they gain confidence each week.
With over 50 different sessions, the year long programme will provide plenty of ideas for home play, create lots of smiles, happy memories and enhance this precious time you have with your baby.
What if my baby goes to sleep?
Please don’t worry if your little one is sleepy, this is completely normal and shows that they are relaxed. It’s very tiring to grow especially in those early weeks. Regardless of this, your baby will still take in 70% of everything that’s going on around them. A great excuse to continue, to build that bond with kisses, cuddles, tickles and singing.
Is my baby too young for the class?
It's never too early to help to support your baby, some our youngest babies have been just 2 weeks old but you can join us whenever you feel ready. The classes are designed for babies from birth and babies generally sleep very well afterwards.
My chosen class is fully booked - Please look at the timetable and maybe book an alternative venue or day. This will give you priority booking for the next term and availability for your preferred class. Alternatively join the waitlist and we will let you know when there is availability
Parking - Is available at all venues or in close by residential areas.
Changing facilities are provided. Please bring your valuables into the class room and also a pair of socks as this helps to keep the areas baby friendly and clean.
Feeding- Please feel free to feed your baby at any time during the class, we only ask that weaning babies are accommodated away from the sensory area due to any allergy implications and it also helps to keep the areas clean for everyone.
