Frequently asked questions:

How do the classes work?

Baby Sensory® classes will stimulate your baby in every way, crucial for your baby's development in these precious early stages, forming the foundation for future learning. Our structured classes are suitable for babies from birth to 13 months, with each class lasting 45 minutes. We always start with our signature song, ‘Say hello to the sun’  followed by carefully chosen activities. An exploratory play break is offered after the first few activities, giving babies a chance for some rest time (following their natural play/rest/play cycle) and parents a chance to get to know those around them. We then come back together around the sensory area for more engaging activities and our calming 'wave goodbye' song, which we always end on.

Can I feed/change my baby during activities?

Yes, of course!

We want you and your baby to feel comfortable in class and encourage you to do what works best for you and for them. Changing facilities are provided in the room we run activities, but feel free to bring your own mat if you want more privacy. All our venues have toilets with changing tables.  We kindly ask that finger food, food, and hot drinks are kept away from the sensory/play area for health and safety reasons, but breastfeeding/bottle feeding can be done anywhere in class you feel comfortable.

What if my baby falls asleep during class?

It really doesn't matter!

Research investigating the brain waves of sleeping infants found that regions associated with sound, motor, visual, and auditory processing still buzzed with activity during sleep. What's more, researchers at the University of Turku in Finland also found that babies learned language while sleeping. This is because the cerebral cortex continues to function during awake and sleep states in the first year of life!

Will the themes next term be the same as this term?

You and your baby could attend for a whole year and not experience the same theme twice. With over 65 lesson plans for us to showcase, we work very hard to ensure each week is fun, memorable, and different. However, repetition is key, and so a few of our favourite activities we will want to share with you more than once during your time with us at Baby Sensory®.

How will I know when to book the next term?

Baby Sensory® is not a course; it is designed for continuous learning and development set into six week terms.

When it is time to re-enrol, you will receive a message inviting you to book the next term with us. If your class is full, then it is advised to book on ASAP when you receive your invitation to secure a space for the following term.

What if a class is cancelled by you or I need to miss a week in my block?

If you are going to miss a class due to holidays or sickness, you are welcome to offer your space  to a parent with a baby of appropriate age. Please contact me with their details so registers are accurate in case of emergency.

Or, if space is available you are welcome to attend another venue that week so you do not miss out.

If a class is cancelled by myself, I will try my hardest to cover the class with a neighbouring Baby Sensory® class leader or offer a catch-up class; no refund will be offered in these events.

If I am unable to cover classes or offer a catch-up class, then a refund will be issued for the cancelled class.

Is my baby too young?

No, our programme is for babies from 0-13 months; parents are encouraged to join when they are ready.

Can I join if the term has already started?

Yes, you can! You will only pay for the classes you have signed up to from your start date.

Can siblings attend?

Regrettably we do not have space for siblings to attend, in exceptional circumstances please get in touch to discuss.
