About our classes
Our multi-award winning class has been designed specially for babies from Birth to 13 Months. They will introduce your baby to a world of sensory exploration and provide precious early learning. Each week you can expect fabulous equipment and songs - many unique to us - and you will never experience the same lesson twice. The sessions run for 1 hour and are structured following babies’ natural play-rest-play cycle, avoiding over or under-stimulation, establishing routine which is important for their security and development.
Each session begins at our Sensory Area with our beautiful signature ‘Say Hello to the Sun’ signing song welcoming everyone to class, followed by an array of sensory activities; perhaps playing an instrument, smelling new scents or having a boogie! Then moving to exploration of our well-equipped exploratory play area . This is a great time for parents to chat with each other and provide an opportunity to build real friendships through sharing tips and experiences at a time when most really appreciate the support. For the second half of our classes we will perhaps have more songs, a light or disco show, a floating parachute or maybe a puppet show! Finally, we always end with some quiet moments and our ‘Wave Goodbye’ song.
We have a vast wealth of developmental information which we love to share, regularly explaining what we’re doing and why; as the first year of your baby’s life is one of the most important and understanding more about your child’s development will really enhance what’s already a very special time.

Feeding/Changing
We want you all to feel as comfortable and as at home as possible so if baby needs attending to at all during our sessions, please feel free to do so, either on the mats or on a chair, wherever is easier for yourself.
Matted areas
We ask that parent/carers remove their shoes and have socks on for sitting on our matted areas. During flip flop weather remember to pop a pair of socks in your bag.
Older siblings
Siblings under 13 months can attend class but siblings over 13 months are unable to attend.
Parking
When attending classes please use the Soft Play car park and not the spaces at the Babes in the Wood Community Shop. Thank you!
