Baby Sensory Doncaster

Baby Sensory is a wonderful, multi-award winning learning and development programme for babies from birth to 13 months. Each week is packed with multi-sensory delights including music, movement, baby signing, massage, light shows, water play, messy play, puppet shows, bubbles, balloons, lots of amazing props and more! What's more, you can attend for a full year and never experience the same lesson twice- there are always new adventures to be had.

Each session follows baby's natural cycle of play, rest, play which is important so that the babies don't get over stimulated. During the 'rest' part of the class, your  baby will be invited to explore our play area with you, where they will find a range of age appropriate toys and activities that they can investigate at their own pace with the other babies. This play time also gives parents a great opportunity to socialise.

All of our classes are held exclusively in our beautiful, Baby Sensory Doncaster Wow Centre, on Woodfield Park in Balby. Our venue is for the sole use of Baby Sensory, and we have created the perfect space for you and your baby, with lots of finishing touches that help to make it super inviting and comfortable for our customers.

Woodfield Park is the perfect setting for our classes - there is ample parking available and an onsite café which sells a great range of drinks, hot and cold food and delicious cakes. The park is a great place to meet with friends before or after class for a stroll with the pushchairs, a wander around the walled garden or a picnic during those summer months 🥰

Frequently Asked Questions

Q- How much are the classes?

A- Classes are £8.50 each and are bookable a term at a time. We generally follow thew same term times as schools, so most terms are around six weeks long.

Q- What happens if I miss a session?

A- If you are unable to come to one of your sessions, we are always happy to see if we have a space for you in a different class that week. Or you are very welcome to send a friend to enjoy the class in your place.

Q- Can I bring my partner/friend/relative?

A- You are very welcome to bring an additional adult along to the session with you to watch you and your baby in class from one of the chairs at the side. If there is room, your additional adult would be very welcome to join us on the mats, but this is dependent on how busy that particular class is on the day.

Q- Is my baby too young?

A- Baby Sensory classes are suitable from birth, so as soon as you're ready to head out with your new baby you're more than welcome to attend- the youngest baby we've had in class was just four days old. The most miraculous advances in brain structure and function occur in the first three months of life. Early postnatal experiences in a nurturing and stimulating environment play an important role in this development. Our activities are specifically designed to be safe and suitable for babies from birth and developmental information given to you will help you play at home in an age/stage appropriate way.

Q- Is my baby too old?

A- If your baby is under 13 montghs when the term starts then Baby Sensory is for you!

If your baby is over 13 months at the start of term, then it's time to head to Toddler Sense Doncaster for lots of fun filled adventures with my lovely colleague, Natasha.

Q- I have twins- do you offer a twin discount?

A- We do indeed! For twins we charge half price for the second baby, so a class for both babies would be £12.75. To book on with your twins please message us directly and we will arrange this discount for you.

Q- What if my baby sleeps or feeds during the session?

A- You are more than welcome to breast or bottle feed your baby wherever you want to in class- either stay at your mat or sit at one of the chairs at the side if that's more comfortable for you. Likewise, if baby sleeps, feel free stay where you are or move across to a chair. Did you know that brain scans have shown that newborns take in and process sounds, visual information and movement from the outside world while sleeping. So you can relax and enjoy the activities in the knowledge that your baby is still learning!

Q- What if my baby cries?

A- Babies cry to communicate with their caregivers, so we fully expect to hear babies crying at some point during a session- just see to your baby as you usually would to comfort them and they will soon settle into the session and routine.

Q- Why are sensory experiences important for brain growth?
A- Your newborn’s brain is about 25% of adult weight but by the end of the first year, it will have doubled in volume (50% growth). The most prolific period of brain growth occurs in the first 3 months of life. This is why is it so important to introduce your new baby to sights, colours, sounds, textures, movement activities and smells from birth.

Q- My baby is crawling/walking, can we still come?

A- Definitely! Mobile babies get so much from the sessions and I love seeing them coming crawling/tottering up towards me to help me at the front!

Q- My baby has an older sibling- can they come to class too?

A- As the sessions are specifically designed for 1:1 interaction between parent and baby, unfortunately older children cannot attend.

Q- Do I need to bring anything with me? How do I find the venue? Is there anything else I need to know?

A- Fear not- before you first come to Baby Sensory Doncaster you will receive a detailed Welcome Message which contains lots of extra information about what to expect in class and how to find us.
