The Baby Sensory Experience
Baby Sensory provides hundreds of sensory development activities that are great fun for parents and babies to share in the vital first year. The classes include fibre optic light shows, bubbles, bells, musical fun, baby signing, puppet shows, amazing light balls and so much more. Once you have experienced our parent and baby activities you will want to come back next week for more captivating experiences. Don't just take our word for it, take a look at our testimonials page and read what other mums and dads have had to say about the Baby Sensory experience.
The Baby Sensory programme consists of over 40 themed lesson plans, so every week you will share new sensory experiences with your baby. You can see pictures of a sample of the activities on our What We Do page or better still come along to one of our sessions and experience the classes for yourself. Many of the baby development activities are set to our own Baby Sensory music, which is available on CD.
Each class includes a variety of different baby development activities plus a discovery playtime, during which your baby can enjoy our exploratory play area whilst you have the opportunity to meet other parents.
Childcare Careers with Baby Sensory
If you are looking for a childcare career working with babies, this may just be the opportunity you have been seeking. Baby Sensory was set up in September 2004 in response to the demand for out of home activities for babies. It draws on current research, the work of theorists, Early Years experts and over 30 years of personal experience, training and networking in the childcare and education sector.
We started offering our childcare franchise opportunities in October 2006 and in our first 2 years we trained 20 new franchisees who are now running their baby development classes throughout the UK and Ireland.
If you are interested in baby development and would like to run classes at a centre near you, please take a look at our Run a Class page.
Baby Sensory International
Baby Sensory has signed Master Franchise agreements in Canada, Italy, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Spain and Denmark. These agreements are our first international expansion and we are planning further overseas growth during 2010. Our international agreements are structured to enable our Master Franchisees to grow the Baby Sensory business within their appointed territory, with support from the UK team and to reap the benefits of growth from within their territory.
During 2008 our Canadian operation, run by Kanan Bhatt, established classes in Toronto and Ottawa and we are enjoying significant growth during 2009. We signed contracts with our Italian Master Franchisee in May 2008 and the focus in 2008 was the translation of our programme including re-recording the Baby Sensory music in Italian. Our Italian launch, on 22 November 2008, attracted the attention of Italian Health Professionals and Child Development Experts and we are expecting to open classes in Calabria and Rome by the end of 2009.
Classes will be starting in Barcelona, Spain, Miami-Florida and Mexico before the end of 2009 and we expect to announce opening dates in Denmark and Ausralia in the near future.
Our Founder - Baby Development Expert - Dr. Lin Day
Baby Sensory founder, Dr. Lin Day (PhD Dip. Ed. BSc. PGCE. M. Phil) has worked with babies and young children throughout her career. Prior to creating Baby Sensory, Lin created a musical adventure play concept, "WakeUp!". The primary aim of WakeUp! was to encourage toddlers and children to become more active through practical and exciting play. Lin recognised that babies attending classes with their older brothers and sisters were spellbound by what was happening around them and thus founded Baby Sensory classes for babies.
Lin is a feature writer in the topic of Baby Development for the Early Years Educator (EYE) magazine and provides motivational workshops on baby development at Baby Shows and Early Years events throughout the UK. To see examples of Dr. Day's articles, please visit our Baby Development page which has copies of her Babies are so Clever! article and other published articles.
